Croatian Highlights Tour: Scenic Routes and Historic Sites

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the capital of Croatia, which will reveal its most important cultural and architectural attractions: the Cathedral, the main Ban Jelacic square, the fortified Upper Town, the city's historical centre, St. Mark's Church with its multicoloured roof, the Croatian National Theatre. After breakfast, travel to the Plitvice National Park, one of the most popular destinations in Croatia. It has a wonderful nature protected by UNESCO. Here you enjoy touring the Plitvice Lakes National Park, which comprises 16 terraced lakes interconnected by a series of stunning waterfalls and surrounded by densely-wooded hills. Walk among the waterfalls, take a boat ride through the crystal water and take some magnificent photos—overnight in Plitvice.

In the morning, you head to Trogir, a town beautifully set on a small island within medieval walls with mazelike streets. Trogir is known for its Romanesque and Renaissance architecture, which flourished under Venetian rule. Then we continue to the city of Split. Upon arrival, you start with a sightseeing tour of the town with typical cobbled Dalmatian streets. The historical centre was built around the remains of the Palace of Emperor Diocletian from the 4th century AD. Learn about the area's fascinating history as you see Jupiter's Temple, the Peristyle, the Cathedral and other Renaissance and Gothic structures. Overnight in Split.

On this day you have free time to explore the town on your own. Alternatively, you can join an optional tour of Hvar Island, the most famous Croatian island. There you visit the town of Hvar and have a walking tour of its historical landmarks: the Renaissance cathedral with its original tower and the oldest community theatre in Europe, founded in 1612. Hike up to the town fort overlooking the harbour for lovely scenic views. Return to Split. Overnight in Split

After breakfast, you travel to Dubrovnik. A local guide will show you around this world-famous Dalmatian city called the Pearl of Adriatic. It has a rich and exciting history, seen at every step. It is one of the most photographed towns in the Mediterranean. You will visit the Franciscan Monastery with Europe's third oldest pharmacy, the Rector's Palace and the Cathedral—dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Free day at leisure. Or you join an optional tour to Montenegro to see the Bay of Kotor, described as the Mediterranean's only fjord, between the mountains and the blue sea. Next, take a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks, one of two islets off the coast of Perast. The Roman Catholic Church is the largest building on the islet, with a museum. Upon return to the coast, stop in Perast, an old charming coastal town. Return to Dubrovnik. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
