Itinerary

Day 1: VENICE –  ARRIVAL
Arriving at Venice’s airport, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight.

Day 2: VENICE
Today begins with a walking tour of Venice featuring the major highlights: St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, Bell Tower, and Bridge of Sighs. Then you visit a glassblowing factory where you will watch a master artisan demonstrate this traditional Venetian art. Finally, the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy Venice on your own or to take an optional gondola ride. Overnight.

Day 3: VENICE – FERRARA – PISA – FLORENCE
In the morning, you head to Ferrara, a splendid city of art, well known for its  Renaissance period. After the orientation tour, we continue to Pisa. The Leaning Tower has made this city famous all over the world. Walk around Piazza del Miracoli to see the Tower, Baptistery and Duomo. Then we drive to Florence, the capital of Tuscany. After check-in, there will be a free evening. Overnight.

Day 4: FLORENCE
The tour begins at the Piazza del Duomo in the morning, where you see the world-famous Cathedral with magnificent Dome and nearby Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery. Next, visit the churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce and observe the river Arno from the famous bridge Ponte Vecchio. Finally, the tour ends at the Piazzale Michelangelo with a spectacular view over Florence. The rest of the day, you will be free for further exploration of this glorious city of Renaissance. Overnight.

Day 5: FLORENCE – SIENA – SAN GIMIGNANO –  FLORENCE
Drive to Siena, which is located in the central part of Tuscany. The city’s historic centre has been a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Siena is well-known for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape, and the horse race held twice a year on the city’s main square.  Continue to San Gimignano, a small town with about a dozen tower houses with picturesque medieval architecture. Take a walk around, get some typical food, and try their Vernaccia white wine. Return to Florence for overnight.

Day 6: FLORENCE – ASSISI – ROME
In the morning, we start to drive through the lovely panorama of Tuscany, making our way to Assisi, the hometown of St. Francis. Here we stop for a walking tour to see the main square and visit the famous Basilica of St. Francis. Then we head to Rome – the Eternal City. Check-in the hotel and overnight.

Day 7: ROME
This day you have a full-day sightseeing tour which shows you all the highlights of this incomparable City: St. Peter’s Square, St. Peter’s Basilica, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps… Overnight.

Day 8: ROME
A day free to explore Rome your way. There is still so much to see and do in this fabulous city. Your Tour Guide will help you with suggestions on spending this day. One of these suggestions would be the visit of the Vatican Museums with moving Sistine Chapel. Overnight.

Day 9: ROME – NAPLES – POMPEI – SORRENTO
After breakfast, we depart from Rome and travel to the lively city of Naples. During the orientation tour, you visit the main sights: The Cathedral, The ‘Egg’ castle, Piazza del plebiscito. Then you walk along Spaccanapoli – Unesco World Heritage Site and discover the traditional pizzerias (Pizza ‘was born’ in Naples), pastry shops and see some of the best monuments and churches in the city. Then you depart to Pompeii, the legendary city of the Roman Empire. It was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The city was later excavated and now offers a unique sight of Roman life, frozen at the moment it was buried. After the visit, drive to Sorrento. Free evening and overnight.

Day 10: SORRENTO – EXCURSION TO CAPRI
Morning sail to the beautiful nearby Isle of Capri. Here you’ll visit the magnificent Gardens of Caesar Augustus and view the famed Faraglioni Rocks. Then there will be time to wander around the lively streets and browse in the elegant shops and boutiques before you return to Sorrento. Overnight.

Day 11:  SORRENTO
Free day in Sorrento where you can enjoy the magnificent views of Naples, Vesuvius, and Capri’s Isle. You can walk through the narrow streets, perhaps try a typical drink ‘Limoncello’ or get some sandals made here in a traditional way or simply relax. Overnight.

Day 12: SORRENTO –  DEPARTURE
After breakfast transfer to the airport of Naples or Rome for your departure flight.
